Praia dos Caneiros

Praia dos Caneiros is a cove east of Ferragudo, golden cliffs to either side and the Ponta do Altar lighthouse on the headland just beyond. A freestanding rock stack rises from the water at one end, and the cliffs wrap the sand closely enough to give shelter in most winds. Access is straightforward, down a short slope from the road above, which makes it one of the easier coves on this coast to reach. The walk out to the small lighthouse at Ponta do Altar, watching ships turn into the Arade, is a natural add-on. It suits families, and anyone who likes a cove with a stroll attached.
