17th Castro Marim Half Marathon

The Castro Marim half marathon takes over Avenida 24 de Junho in Altura for a night race, starting and finishing beside the town's athletics track. The flat 21.097km course runs a four-lap circuit, chosen deliberately to keep support and lighting close at hand for the whole field. Organised by Clube Recreativo Alturense, the event also offers a shorter 10.5km option, the Mini Maratona, for runners who want the atmosphere without the full distance. Cooler September evening temperatures and a lit route make this one of the more sociable races on the Algarve running calendar. It is open to federated and non-federated athletes, including foreign entrants, across the usual age categories.
