Where you live changes everything
The Algarve is not one cost of living, it is many. The coast carries a premium, and the busy centre around the main resort towns is the dearest part of all, especially in summer. Move a little inland and the same money goes further, with quieter villages, more space and lower everyday costs. The eastern Algarve, out towards Tavira and the Spanish border, is often gentler again than the centre, while keeping you close to the sea.
