Riosultravel

Riosultravel runs boat cruises up the Guadiana river and 4x4 jeep safaris into the Algarve and Alentejo interior from a kiosk on Avenida da República in Vila Real de Santo António, next to the passenger boat departure point on the riverfront. The business grew out of Guaditur, a sea tour operator created in 1979 by Renato José Rodrigues D'Oliveira, with the travel agency Riosul Viagens e Turismo established alongside it in 1986. The signature Guadiana cruise runs upriver to the village of Alcoutim, past reed-lined banks and birdlife along the natural border with Spain, with a stop for lunch and time to cross into the Spanish village of Sanlúcar de Guadiana. The jeep safaris use a fleet of Land Rover Defenders to reach inland routes through the Alentejo hills and Algarve mountains that are not accessible by road. With four decades of history in the area, Riosultravel is one of the longest-running tour operators in the far eastern Algarve, and its boat can carry up to 150 passengers on the busier summer sailings.
