Guanilho Design

Guanilho Design is a full architecture and interior design studio based on the Estrada Nacional 125 in Pereiras de Cima, just outside Almancil. The practice is led by architect Francisco Guanilho Duarte, born in Lisbon in 1979, who trained at the Universidade Lusiada de Lisboa and holds postgraduate qualifications in Real Estate Appraisal and Management and in Urban Regeneration from the same university. He is a full member of the Portuguese Institute of Architects (Ordem dos Arquitectos, number 18109) and has more than 16 years of experience in high-end architectural and interior projects across Europe and Angola, where he worked between 2011 and 2017. The studio takes on projects from initial concept through detailed design, realisation and final snagging, covering full turnkey builds and refurbishments as well as bespoke kitchens, bathrooms, furniture, upholstery and lighting. Interior design consultant Louise Gallagher, who holds a degree in History of Art from University College Dublin, a Master's in Art Restoration from the Sorbonne and a postgraduate qualification in Museum Science from the Ecole du Louvre in Paris, brings more than 30 years of interior design and refurbishment experience in London and Dublin to the practice. Recent projects shown on the studio's own site include a full villa refurbishment in Almancil, bespoke kitchen furniture for a home in Santa Barbara, and turnkey refurbishments of villas and apartments in Vilamoura, including a project at Marina Plaza. Guanilho Design works closely with Portuguese artisans and craftspeople on each build, and its work has been featured in The Irish Times, Chic Magazine and by the Camara Municipal de Alvaiazere.
