Companhia das Culturas is a sustainable and organic agriturismo set on 40 hectares of stone pines, cork oaks and carob trees, olive groves and a vegetable garden, in the southeastern Algarve next to Castro Marim Nature Reserve. The farm is 1.5km from Praia Verde beach, 4km from the historic village of Castro Marim and 6km from the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve. The property offers a range of rooms and suites (including junior suites, double rooms and a ground-floor house), meals built from produce grown on the farm and from neighbouring producers, and a hamam with massages and wellness programmes. There is no television or background music in the rooms, though Wi-Fi is available in communal areas, and stays require a minimum of 4 nights. Companhia das Culturas also runs a programme of countryside workshops and activities: wild herb cuisine walks through the farm's ecosystem, a fresh fish cuisine session with a trip to the Vila Real de Santo Antonio market, wood-oven bread and traditional carob-flour pastry making, salt marsh visits to see fleur de sel harvested by hand (June to September), working with vegetable fibres such as palm leaf, esparto and reed, whitewash and fresco painting, plus dance, photography and self-massage sessions. The estate also hosts hiking, intimate weddings and team-building events.
