Carvoeiro Tours has been running boat trips along the Algarve's cave coastline for more than 30 years, operating a fleet of 6 boats under RNAAT licences 156/2011 and 208/2011. The flagship Benagil & Marinha Tour departs from Praia do Carvoeiro (and also from Portimao), passing Centeanes Beach, Carvalho Beach, Benagil Beach and Marinha Beach, and visits between 15 and 20 caves on each outing, including the Benagil Cave itself; babies up to 2 years old travel free. A Private Tour option is also available, departing from either Portimao or Praia de Carvoeiro, again taking in 15 to 20 caves. Along the route, guests see well-known formations including Algar de Benagil, Vale de Covo, the Heart Cave and Eyes of the Devil. The boats are small, 6 metre vessels that can enter the caves regardless of tide, and the crew provides certified safety equipment including compulsory life jackets. Carvoeiro Tours recommends booking a morning slot, both for calmer seas and for the best light in the caves, generally between 9.30am and 5pm.
