Boutique Tamar

Boutique Tamar opened in December 2019 in the historic downtown streets of Lagos. It was founded by Lena Correia, who fell in love with the world of ceramics at the age of 17 before working her way from the pottery studio to the shop counter, building relationships with artisans across Portugal along the way. The shop describes itself as "a different way of seeing arts and crafts", built around handmade and authentic pieces rather than production-line goods. The range spans arts and crafts, vintage items, household products, fashion, jewellery and antique toys, sourced by visiting potteries, weaving houses, factories and artisans' homes around the country. In the basement of the shop is a small exhibition room. The first show, "Casa da Ti Chica", was an interactive installation by Lagos-born artist Ana Duarte exploring the sounds of her aunt's home. Boutique Tamar is open to browsers as well as buyers, tourists and locals alike, on Rua António Barbosa Viana in the town centre.
