Abílio Bikes

Abílio Bikes is the oldest bike shop in Tavira, trading from the same trade since 1963. The original Casa Abílio was run by Mr. Abílio himself from 1963 until 2001, and in 2002 the business passed to João Branquinho, who has carried it on under the Abílio name from the shop at Rua João Vaz Corte Real in the centre of town. The rental fleet covers the whole range of riding in the eastern Algarve, with daily rates published on the site: kids' bikes from EUR 10, comfort bikes from EUR 16, 29er mountain bikes from EUR 19, gravel bikes from EUR 26, e-bikes from EUR 28, carbon road bikes from EUR 33 and e-MTBs from EUR 35. Rentals can be booked online, premium rental insurance is available, and the shop delivers and collects bikes across the eastern Algarve. Rather than escorted group rides, Abílio Bikes publishes a library of curated self-guided routes, from flat spins along the Ria Formosa lagoon and Tavira's old town to longer gravel loops of 36 and 53 kilometres into the hills. The workshop is an official Shimano Service Center handling repairs and servicing, and the shop sells both new and second-hand bikes, with a Customer Card loyalty scheme for regulars. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 9:30 to 13:00 and 15:00 to 19:00, and Saturday mornings 9:30 to 13:00, with an extra Saturday afternoon slot from 16:00 to 18:00 between June and October. Sundays closed.
